It has been alleged that President and CEO of LIGATT Security International, Gregory Evans has threatened Security Professional, Chris John Riley via email. Riley reported that the threatening email came from an Bellsouth IP address out of Atlanta, GA, where LIGATT Security is head-quartered.

According to Chris John Riley’s blog, http://blog.c22.cc/2010/06/17/threats/

On the evening of Wednesday 16th, I called the offices of LIGATT in Atlanta and asked to speak to Gregory Evans to arrange an interview. After giving my name, I was put through to speak to Gregory to arrange the details. What followed was a short conversation where I explained who I represented (Eurotrash Security Podcast) and what we’d like… i.e. an Interview. Greg ran through what he though about the plagiarism accusations and we arrange to talk again the next evening for a full interview once the whole Eurotrash crew was assembled. When booking the final appointment with his secretary I provided her with the URL of my blog (blog.c22.cc) and she gave me Gregory’s the Skype ID (ligattsecurity) to add ready for the interview.

Less than 15 minutes later, the following comment was received on my blog under the Books (as in book reviews) section.

Evans has completed denied all allegations of sending threatening emails to Riley as he uses a company called MegaPath, not Bellsouth. According to Evans, “Anyone could have sent those emails to him. I do not have time threaten anyone as it is a waste of time, and unprofessional. I am running three businesses and have other things to worry about.”

You don’t have to be technology “savvy” to know that with little to no effort in Photoshop, Word, or any other kind of editing software; any IP address can be altered. If Chris Riley is such a “professional” he would know that this task is extremely possible. Perhaps he’s the one behind all the threatening and creating of a FAKE IP address. Greg Evans is an extremely busy man, (just check his bio) and has no time to sit at his computer and pose threats. Only those with a lot of idol time and hungry for publicity (i.e. Chris Riley) would have time to sit at their computer all day.

I think the article hit the nail on the head — there’s no way to confirm if it was Evans who sent that message or not. It could’ve been anyone, and if he’s running a business it doesn’t make a lot of sense to go around threatening people.

I dont get why the “Payment recieved” bill and the IP tracer are on there…what does one have to do with the other??

  4. blake7855 says:

Had Riley seen this evidence? Did he ever answer?

    • Johnny S. says:

I guess not yet…the Referee claims he tried to contact Riley and he refused to comment on any of this. If this is accurate, then there basically is no proof that Evans sent the message…

This thing is winding out of control…Look at this:
The $5,000,000 (five million) dollar lawsuits were filed in Gwinnett County Georgia. It consists of a number of charges including stock manipulation and slander. The offenders have already been reported to the Security Examiners Commission, also known as the SEC. SPOOFEM.COM has six law firms on retainer at all times. These law firms will monitor the company’s stock boards and respond to bashers immediately when necessary.

Mr Riley is not playing around!
